This months 2nd Monday weavers gathering was conveniently located at my neighbors house last Monday.  Maureen and Duane have created such a lovely outdoor natural wonderland that I’m surprised they are ever indoors. The pond with stone walkways and walls and gorgeous plantings make me want to come back with my sketchbook.  I took a gazillion pictures as every vista looked like a painting.  Their garden is also a work of art and I’m thinking took a just a little bit of work to look so pristine.

Maureen’s weaving adventure started about a year or so ago and she now owns the same Glimakra Ideal countermarche loom that I have.  Glimakra no longer makes this loom and  she found hers used.  It is so great to have a loom that can weave anything but it can also be challenging to learn all of the tie-up idiosyncrasies.  I’m still  in a love hate relationship with mine.  I am impressed by her just jumping in with weaving , choosing the projects she wants  and just learning as she goes.

After the big push to weave for The Winding Roads art tour, I am taking a bit of a break from weaving.  Lots of weeding and general sitting on the porch stuff to catch up on.  I did manage to forget to deliver the defected double weave scarf that my daughter bought so I could show it off at this gathering.  This is one of my favorite scarves  that I have ever  woven, so I’m glad that I get to visit it when I get to Madison to see my daughters.

I am fortunate to have a friend right next door to share weaving inspiration with.  I’m looking forward to many more years and projects to share just down the road…
