To dye..or to weave

By |2016-10-25T16:52:17+00:00May 28th, 2014|Uncategorized|1 Comment

With 2 fairs coming up I can't decide if I need to dye or sit at the loom and build some inventory. So far dyeing is winning,  I still can't believe how long it takes to label and organize everything.  This weekend I will be at the Driftless Area Fibre Faire in Mineral Point and June [...]

pinwheels and hidden mills

By |2016-10-25T16:52:17+00:00May 10th, 2014|Handwoven|4 Comments

Something about weaving pinwheels makes me want to giggle, and chase firefly's in the moonlight.I found this hidden woolen mill accidentally while exploring the river in my daughters college town, Appleton, Wi.  Established in 1880 it is called the Courtney Woolen Mill and they card wool into quilt batts. Good, fibery find= lots of daughter [...]

waiting for babies

I know if my kids see this blogs title, there will be heavy duty eye rolling and groans.  But hey this time, I'm waiting on some baby eagles.  The eagle nest on our property has been moved into; and one of the pair has for the last month, always been sitting in the nest.  I [...]

spring?

By |2016-10-25T16:52:17+00:00April 18th, 2014|Handspun|0 Comments

The weavers group gathered at my house this month.  I generally don't have the group at my house in the winter because my driveway can be a snowy icy white knuckle adventure.  So mid April should be good, right?  Well when I woke up to 4 inches of fresh new snow I pretty much just [...]

looking for spring

By |2016-10-25T16:52:20+00:00April 5th, 2014|Photography|0 Comments

In a where's waldo kind of  a way my daughter and I wanted a road trip, partly to get out of Dodge and partly to find some unfrozen signs of spring.  Since I had to take her back to school in Appleton we decided to continue east and stay overnight in Door County.  I could [...]

spring gathering

By |2016-10-25T16:52:20+00:00March 19th, 2014|2nd Monday|2 Comments

What with the weather one minute having me cheer the robins and the start of spring and the next getting my longjohns back out for a 10 degree F morning walk, I was very thankful for our weavers gathering at my friend Carole's house.I don't know of a home that more reflects the artful, family [...]

gathering at Barb’s

By |2016-10-25T16:52:20+00:00February 21st, 2014|2nd Monday|1 Comment

Our monthly gathering of weavers and fiber lovers met at Barb's this month.  I am posting this late enough, that I have forgotten who brought what and just know it was a joyful day with lots of great food and piles of fabric to keep me inspired. I am always struck by the fact that when [...]

2nd monday at Kathy’s

By |2016-10-25T16:52:20+00:00January 16th, 2014|2nd Monday|2 Comments

Happy to be out..happy to be out...happy. I think that was the general consensus when our group of weavers gathered at Kathy's house in LaCrosse. Nothing like a little cabin fever with too many days of sub, sub zero temps; to make for a joyful, glad to have friends, lets eat all of this great [...]

2nd monday at Jean’s

By |2016-10-25T16:52:20+00:00December 15th, 2013|2nd Monday|0 Comments

Another rather large group gathered at Jean's house last Monday.   These days of laughter and inspiration are so looked forward to by myself and I am sure all of us. With the days shortening and the cold becoming all encompassing, we need this lighthearted sharing to keep us on the somewhat sane track.  As Amy [...]
