Anytime our weavers group is invited to Olga and Gordon’s home during the summer months, I know we are in for a treat. We enjoyed a wonderful day gathered together under an apple tree, surrounded by multitudes of Olga’s red poppies and breathtaking gardens . My camera kept drawing me away to explore the gardens until the show and tell projects started appearing from baskets and bags. I took my monks belt table runners off the loom the night before and was pretty happy that they were hemmed and washed although still a little damp. I had seen Judtih’s crackle weave project on Instagram that same day and figured she too was motivated to get a project done in time for the weavers group. Anne Marie joined us for the first time and it was fun to see that she was knitting with one of my hand dyed yarns . Barb brought her friend Norene and if our general fiber mania didn’t frighten her, I hope she can come again as I didn’t get time to talk with her very much.
All in all, a day to cherish in our memory as the perfect place to be on a lovely summer day. Thanks Olga for your generosity in sharing your home and gardens.
Your reports of your meetings are so inspirational! How I wish I was part of a group like yours. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks Deb. All of us find this to be a special group to be part of and I am proud to be able to share what we do with you and others.
It was a magical day, wasn’t it? It must be all those poppies. :O) Thank you once again for the beautiful post. Norene felt so warmly welcomed by everyone (as I knew she would) that she wants to visit our gathering again sometime.
The day did feel a bit like being Dorthy in a field of poppies, somewhat surreal. I do hope Norene makes it for another visit soon. Looking forward to next month, wherever it may be.
